Associate Attorney (Partnership Track)

Location: Carlsbad, NM (Hybrid)

Role Description

Our firm is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Associate Attorney with a clear path to partnership. This is a hybrid role, offering a blend of in-office collaboration and remote work. The ideal candidate will have experience in a range of practice areas, with a preference for oil & gas law .

The Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing a diverse and dynamic caseload. This includes providing expert legal advice, conducting thorough legal research, and representing clients in legal proceedings. You'll be instrumental in negotiating and resolving complex legal matters, drafting critical legal documents, and attending court sessions. A key part of this role involves working closely with our legal team to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients across New Mexico and neighboring states.

This role is a unique opportunity to grow with the firm, with a direct track toward partnership. We are looking for a dedicated professional who is ready to take on a leadership role and contribute to the firm's continued success.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on a variety of legal matters, with a focus on our core practice areas: Oil & Gas and Energy Law, Estate Planning & Probate, Business & Corporate Law, Civil Litigation, and Municipal & Regulatory work.

• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategies.

• Draft and review legal documents , including pleadings, motions, contracts, wills, and trusts.

• Negotiate and resolve disputes on behalf of clients, striving for favorable outcomes.

• Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, and arbitrations.

• Manage cases from inception to resolution , ensuring all deadlines are met and clients are kept informed.

• Collaborate effectively with the legal team to share knowledge and strategize on cases.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

• Active membership in the New Mexico Bar.

• Proven expertise in Law , with a strong preference for experience in oil & gas law .

• Exceptional skills in legal research, analysis, and writing .

• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills .

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills .

• Ability to work both independently and as a valued member of a team.

• Litigation and courtroom experience is a significant advantage.
