Job Description

Overview Director of Community Engagement and Strategic Partnerships. Case Western Reserve University seeks a leader to develop and execute programs that advance think[box] and the university's role as a hub for innovation, creativity, and community engagement. This role reports to the Executive and works to meet campus and curricular needs while fostering partnerships with local and university communities, industry stakeholders, and nonprofit organizations to advance knowledge creation. Salary information: The salary range posted is $76,725 to $97,057, dependent on qualifications and experience. University benefits include healthcare, retirement plans, tuition assistance, paid time off, and a winter recess. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership : As a key member of the executive leadership team, ensure programmatic alignment and effectiveness for the department. Provide strategic direction for outreach to achieve goals in think[box] strategic plan. Represent think[box] in the community to advance partnerships (public speaking, workshops, conferences, committees). Provide information to university leadership to ensure alignment with organizational goals. (30%) Program Development and Implementation : Develop and implement outreach initiatives (events, programs, demonstrations, educational materials, collaborations). Manage activities and events leveraging think[box] spaces. Meet with prospective users to define scope, content, and costs for innovative programs for schools and on-campus partners. Enhance visibility of think[box] services and coordinate communications. Collaborate with Marketing, Development for donor relationships, and external partners. (20%) Staff Management : Recruit, supervise, and evaluate staff delivering outreach program content. Conduct performance reviews, set goals, provide feedback, and support staff development. Ensure compliance with organizational policies. Arts Initiative : Lead the Sears think[box] Arts Initiative, including exhibitions, acquisitions, and partnerships. Create a curatorial advisory board, oversee exhibit installation, staffing, and marketing. Manage internal/external art collections, and develop sustainable programs. Seek grants and funds to expand the collection or facilities. (10%) Cultural Brokering : Collaborate with university and community stakeholders to promote cross-boundary work and mutual understanding. Develop community norms and an orientation program for respectful use of university space. Lead crisis response planning and training as needed. (10%) Nonessential Functions Budgeting and Reporting : Prepare reports for top management, draft program proposals for grants, and assist with contracts and scopes of work in collaboration with relevant departments. (5%) Perform other duties as assigned. (5%) Supervisory Responsibility Direct supervision of the Program Manager for Program Development and Implementation, and a team of student programming assistants. Qualifications Experience: 7 years of professional related experience required. Education: Bachelor's degree required. Required Skills: Proven experience developing, delivering, and managing successful academic programs with project and budget management skills. Exemplary organizational management, staff coaching, strategic objective setting, and project/budget management. Strong ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including executives, researchers, families, and policymakers. Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities affecting organizational resources and management. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative management style. Discretion with confidential information. Public-speaking and event facilitation skills (emcee, panelist, keynote, etc.). Entrepreneurial initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong critical thinking and data analysis skills. Ability to motivate students and engage diverse backgrounds in outreach programs. Ability to secure funding and develop income-generating programs; grant writing experience preferred. Commitment to high professional ethical standards; adherence to university policies. Ability to meet attendance requirements and work face-to-face with colleagues and clients. Working Conditions Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Work may involve safety rules in workshop environments.
