This is a hybrid role that includes multi-platform content creation and working as an assignment desk editor. This person will do multiple hits during the morning show, fronting developing and breaking stories from our assignment desk. The ideal candidate will have excellent news judgment and ability to produce & edit engaging content on multiple platforms. This candidate works as an assignment desk editor that calls, confirms stories and then reports them in quick, interactive hits on-air. Responsibilities include writing content for on-air/online/social media platforms. While working on the assignment desk this candidate will pursue relevant breaking news. Communicate with multiple news crews. Monitor news scanners and social media sites. Successful candidate should have: Proven experience editing for broadcast/digital news at the collegiate level or above Experience with iNews a plus Experience with non-linear editing systems, Grass Valley Edius preferred Bachelor’s or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field preferred Must be driven by results, innovative, self-directed, and work independently while meeting deadlines Willing to work a varied work schedule including overnights, weekends, and holidays CBS News and Stations, brings together the power of CBS News, 28 owned television stations in 17 major U.S. markets, the CBS News Streaming Network, CBS News Streaming local platforms, local websites and cbsnews.com, under one umbrella.
